Increasing Website Traffic For Low Cost

Any online business has to constantly generate traffic to its website in order to earn increased income. Generating traffic costs money but not necessarily lot of money. Many popular websites have spent hug amount in ads to reach that position and stay there. Since they are also generating adequate revenue they can afford it. But many others unable to generate sufficient traffic have folded up. A business start-up or a small business without great resources can still generate traffic by following the five low cost techniques discussed in this article.

Increase website traffic by exchanging links

Exchanging links with other websites is a trusted method of generating web traffic. The criterion for exchanging links is that the 2 sites should share a common interest like similar content or a niche area and the like. This would lead a visitor to one of the sites to the other site and thus increase traffic. Searching engines rank sites with lot of inbound and outbound traffic higher than others and exchanging links would achieve that objective.

Increase website traffic by using a traffic exchange

This is similar to exchanging links but in this case the two sites permit viewing of each other’s web pages and allow visitors to know more about both the sites, thus raising public awareness. Each can view other’s traffic and exchange credits mutually; earn them while others view your site and use them while viewing other’s site.

Increase website traffic with articles submissions

Submitting articles free of cost to E-zines as well as to online encyclopedias is another inexpensive way of increasing web traffic. The articles can be written by the site owner or freelancers can be hired to do the job. They should preferably be on topics related to the online business and provide tips and guidelines to the subject matter of the website. If the articles are interesting and informative, that would entice the reader to visit the website. A resource box at the end of the site can provide link to the website.

Increase website traffic by writing newsletters

Newsletter containing interesting articles is another way of drawing visitors to a website. These articles need not be written by the site owner himself but can be copied from other sites and writers who are willing to provide them free of cost but with their name in the article. It would provide free publicity for them. The newsletter can then be circulated among visitors to the website that can improve public awareness about the website. An opt-in list can be maintained that would list all regular visitors to the site.

Increase website traffic with online communities and forums

Online message boards and forums can give free advertisement to a website. By posting regularly to relevant forums that deal with similar subject matter, a website owner can increase awareness about the site. He/she can build a reputation for the website by posting useful and interesting information. This would lead to a regular stream of visitors in the long run.
